See our VOLUNTEER page to learn more about how your gift of time can make a profound difference.
To serve the hungry in Centre Wellington, our shelves need to be constantly replenished. Donation boxes for non-perishable food and household items are located at the Zehrs and FreshCo stores in Fergus and L&M Food Markets in Elora. Pre-holiday food drives are held throughout the year at Zehrs in Fergus. You may also bring donations to the Food Bank on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 4:00, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 to noon and Wednesdays from 5 to 7:30pm. For sizable deliveries, please contact us to arrange a time. For a list of the most-needed items, please see the bottom of this page.
Financial contributions allow us to purchase meat and perishable items for our clients in need, as well as cover our overhead costs. The CW Food Bank will issue donors a hand-written receipt for cash or cheques and official charitable tax receipts will be mailed in February of the following year. Online donations may be made through Canada Helps and paid by PAYPAL or credit card.
Food Drives & Fundraisers
The Centre Wellington Food Bank welcomes all Food Drive and Fundraiser initiatives – whether they come from community agencies, schools, churches, groups of volunteers or local businesses. As an organizer, your first step should be to review the event logistics and the help we can offer on our guidelines/registration form and then discuss your event with the Food Bank manager, Fred Aleksandrowicz, at 519.787.1401. Following that conversation, please complete and submit the completed form before getting started.
We welcome donations of new or clean, gently-used clothing, shoes and household items. Our clients will appreciate your generosity and the opportunity to choose some much-needed items for themselves and their children.
Gift Cards or In Memoriam Donations
Please contact our office at 519.787.1401 if your contribution is a gift or an in memoriam donation and we will provide you with an acknowledgement card.
On behalf of our clients, your neighbours who are struggling to feed their families, the CW Food Bank extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has lent a helping hand by volunteering time, donating items and gifts or making financial contributions. The caring individuals, families, businesses, food stores, groups, clubs, sports teams, churches and schools are too numerous to list. Hundreds were involved with the fundraisers, food drives and the Christmas Hamper and Christmas Angel Programs – as well as our day-to-day operations.
Most Needed Items
Holiday food drives come and go, but the fight against hunger continues all year long. We hope you will remember your neighbours in need when you pass the Food Bank collection boxes at Zehrs, FreshCo and L&M. To find out the items needed the most, please refer to the list at the bottom of the page.
