Executive Director (Manager)

The Centre Wellington Food Bank is looking for a person to join our team as the Food Bank
Executive Director, who also serves as the Food Bank Manager. If you’re someone that wants to

Mission Statement

The Centre Wellington Food Bank is dedicated to easing hunger in Centre Wellington’s community
in a compassionate and supportive environment.

Job Purpose

Lead, coordinate and oversee the daily operations and facilities of the Food Bank. Support the
sustainable growth of the Food Bank to meet the increasing demand in the community. As Manager
and Executive Director, you are the face of the Food Bank.

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant area.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a leadership role.

Key Accountabilities

Community Engagement

  • You are the face of the Food Bank, representing and promoting the Food Bank throughout the community.

  • Liaise with government, social service agencies, donors, granting agencies, and respond to public inquiries.

  • Seek out new community partners and maintain relationships with current partners.


Financial Planning and Management

  • Manage the day-to-day finances of the Food Bank.

  • Oversee budgets to ensure resources are allocated and tracked appropriately.

  • Complete and submit reports to funders at required times.

  • Working alongside the Board, prepare operating and capital budgets.

  • Basic bookkeeping duties, assigning deposits and invoices.


Strategic Planning

  • Provide leadership in identifying Food Bank initiatives that correspond to ever changing community needs.

  • Work alongside the Board of Directors to ensure annual and long-term plans are aligned with the Food Bank’s vision and mission.

  • Provide advice, management, and support to staff and Board about issues and strategies relating to ongoing improvement.


Program Planning

  • Working alongside the Board of Directors, assist in the planning of our Christmas Angel and Hamper Programs.

  • Assist kitchen volunteers to ensure cooking programs are planned and effectively executed.

  • Plan and manage fundraising events and food drives.

  • Manage the food-recovery program.


Day-to-Day Operation Management

  • Lead, coordinate and oversee all logistics and scheduling for Food Bank volunteers.

  • Manage and safely run the day-to-day operations of the Food Bank, ensuring all Public Health standards are exceeded, and all bylaws and building codes are met.

  • Ensure Food Bank facilities, including our community kitchen, are operational.

  • Lead, coordinate, and oversee Food Bank deliveries, pick-ups, organization, and distribution.

  • Welcome clients into the Food Bank and register new clients.

  • General office duties, competent in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Keep accurate confidential records, compute monthly statistics, and complete accurate data entry.


Other

  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, welcoming working environment to all clients, families, volunteers, and visitors by exemplifying Food Bank values.

  • Sit as an ex-officio member at all Board meetings, provide monthly manager report to Board.

  • Maintain and manage the Food Bank’s website.

  • Provide a supportive ear and provide soft direction to difficult inquiries and situations.

  • Flexible work hours and ability to lift 35-pound boxes and stock shelves.
